As of today, April 23, for the first time in the history of our state, the voter lists for all 463 municipalities can be purchased online.
Prior to Secretary of State John H. Merrill taking office, anyone looking to purchase a voter list had to contact the Secretary of State’s Office to request this information. Not a single jurisdiction was available for purchase online, creating additional work for anyone looking for voter information.
“It should not be difficult for Alabamians to locate information that state law allows them to have access to. Rather, they should be able to access a centralized database where they can easily track information, which is exactly what our website aims to do,” stated Merrill.
Users may access lists and voter history information from any county, city, or district in the state by following the link here.
The online voter information portal does not offer official election results, poll lists, or any other information involved in official election preparation or post-election procedures. For official results, voter registration statistics, or to check your voter registration status or polling location, visit AlabamaVotes.gov.
Merrill concluded, “The Office of the Secretary of State has made a concerted effort to modernize the systems in which Alabamians use each and every day. This year alone, we have worked to add several additional counties to accept online business filings and even rolled out a new record search online, which allows users to track more than 9,000 pages of statutory filings.”
