Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many people are facing hardships and economic uncertainty. This need has compelled local nonprofits, faith organizations and community advocates to unite their outreach efforts and offer various forms of relief to the community.
Montgomery City Councilman Oronde K. Mitchell has partnered with True Divine Baptist Church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. to provide 400 meals to those in need in Montgomery on April 30 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at True Divine Baptist Church, 4525 Virginia Loop Road.
STATEMENT FROM ORGANIZERS:
“Many citizens are suffering from a lack of food as well as fellowship and connection; therefore, this initiative is not only a means to feed our people, but it is an example of what can be accomplished in the smallest acts of kindness and servitude. We ask that this information be shared by the media, but we are also petitioning citizens to actively seek out those in need. We aim to saturate our city with a movement of community compassion, generosity, and hospitality. All precautions will be employed to ensure the safety and protection of our residents.”
