As we turn the page on the first month of the year 2020, there are only two words that I can come up with as a wordsmith to express what I’m feeling, thank you! We didn’t just come to the end of the first month of the new year, we also came to the end of the first month that BamaNewsNow has been in business.
When I launched this site on January 7th, I said that if I could get over 100 likes on the Facebook page and over 1,000 page views in the first month up, i would consider that a smashing success. Well we reached those numbers and more! And for that, I am eternally grateful to you the readers because without you those numbers would not have been possible.
I wanted to share with you some of the things that you’ll start seeing in the coming months here at BamaNewsNow as we start to consistently develop more reliable and trustworthy content here.
First, I firmly believe in today’s news environment, any news and information organization has to be a truly multimedia organization, and not focus solely on one medium of news delivery. While we will always tilt heavily towards the written word when delivering Alabama news and information, that won’t be the only form of news delivery you will see from us. In the coming months, we will be launching a BamaNewsNow podcast that will be a weekly show covering the weeks top news and interviewing the week’s top news makers. If the podcast is successful, it may grow into a daily podcast.
We also have plans for several webcasts of original shows and live streaming of events of particular importance and significance to the state of Alabama. As we are a new site just getting started, it was not logistically possible for us to organize any of these events for the upcoming primary season, but we do hope to bring some of these events like debates between general election candidates in the Alabama Senate race, and US House of Representative races in the fall.
We will also be creating new ways to deliver you the latest news and information from BamaNewsNow. We are currently in the process of trying to get our content on the Google News app and platform so that you can get the best from us at the same place you get your news and information from other sources. Over the coming months we will also work to get on the Facebook news feed as well as Apple news feed. Also coming soon, we will be starting a newsletter that will be delivered to your email inbox everyday with the top stories from the site. Also sometime this year, we will be launching our very own BamaNewsNow mobile app for both the iPhone and the Android platforms.
You can help us too! Do you have something to say? Have an opinion that you would like to share with others? Always wanted to be a columnist? If you do, you can email me directly at [email protected] Let me know if you want to do a one time guest opinion or if you would like to become a regular contributor. You can write about any subject you want. do you want to express your political views in a column? That’s great. We’re also planning on launching both a sports and a lifestyle section of the site so if you want to be a food critic, or write a parenting column, we have space for you! have you or somebody you know always wanted to be a journalist? Or do you have a budding journalist in your household in high school or college that needs a place to help build their journalistic portfolio? We can certainly help you or them achieve their dreams. Reach out to me personally to find out more information about it.
Again thank you to each and every one of you that have helped make this first month of BamaNewsNow a huge success and thank you for continuing to be a part of our future success as well.
