ALGOP Announces Qualifying Dates forState House District 33 Special Election
The Alabama Republican Party will open on-line qualifying for the upcoming special election in State House District 33 on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. CDT on the party’s website (algop.org). Candidates may qualify on-line at any time during the qualifying period.
Anyone needing to qualify in-person may come to Alabama Republican Party headquarters (3505 Lorna Road, Hoover, AL 35216). The office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT.
Qualifying will close on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. CDT, per the proclamation issued by Governor Kay Ivey.
The vacancy in House District 33 occurred following the sudden passing of State Representative Ron Johnson earlier this month.
House District 33 consists of portions of Clay, Coosa and Talladega Counties.
The special primary election for House District 33 will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. If a run off election is needed, it will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The general election will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
