JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State University women’s basketball team will conclude a five-game road stint at the GATA Turkey Throwdown hosted by Georgia Southern University, Nov. 26-27, in Statesboro, Ga.
JSU will take on the Indiana State Sycamores for the first time in program history on Friday, Nov. 26 at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Following Friday’s contest, the Gamecocks will face South Carolina State for the fourth time all-time on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 12 p.m. CT.

Jax State enters the Thanksgiving weekend tournament 2-2 overall on the season and 1-2 away from Pete Mathews Coliseum. Most recently, the squad fell to Vanderbilt 61-71, on the road.
Imari Martin leads the Gamecocks this season, scoring 13.3 points per game. The senior has scored in double-figures three-times and led the team in scoring with 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting from beyond-the-arc against Vanderbilt.
Senior Kennedy Gavin leads JSU on the boards this season, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game to go along with 9.5 points per game. Gavin muscled the Gamecocks to a 56-53 win over Samford with a career-high 17 points on Nov. 17. Gavin added four points and six rebounds against Vanderbilt.
Indiana State enters the tournament 1-3 overall on the season after falling to Western Kentucky, 65-83 last time out.
Last season, the Sycamores finished 5-15 including a 2-12 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference.
South Carolina State is seeking its first win of the season following an 0-4 start. The Bulldogs will face Georgia Southern on Friday before taking on the Gamecocks Saturday.
In 2020-21 the Bulldogs finished just 1-9 overall and 0-2 in MEAC play. South Carolina State canceled its final 10 games of the season.
The two programs haven’t’ met since Dec. 16, 2014, when South Carolina State defeated JSU, 55-52. JSU leads the series 2-1 having on the first meeting 74-59 on Dec. 7, 1992, at a neutral site.
