Women’s basketball falls 83-55 to CSU Tuesday night in Trustmark Arena

MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo women’s basketball team fell 83-55 at the hands of the Columbus State Cougars, Tuesday night in Trustmark Arena.  With the loss the Falcons drop to 3-4 with the Cougars remaining undefeated at 6-0 on the year.

The Falcons battled in the first quarter, with the points going back and forth for a 17-16 lead in favor of UM by the end of the period.  Columbus State recouped in the second period, outscoring the Falcons 18-10 to take the lead 34-27 by halftime.

Turnovers plagued Montevallo in the third quarter with the Cougars pushing the gap by 17 points by the end of the period.  Missed field goals and turnovers harmed the Falcons in the final period as Columbus State extended its lead by 28 by the final.

Shyann Flack led Montevallo with 12 points, six rebounds, and an assist.

UP NEXT: The Falcons will face No. 6 North Georgia in a rematch of last Saturday’s game against the Nighthawks.  Tip off is set for Wednesday, December 1st at 5:30 PM in Trustmark Arena.
