Birmingham, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team battled against the Owls of Mississippi University for Women. After a close game against MUW in the Millsaps Tournament this past weekend, the Panthers returned home and dominated the Owls with a final score of 119-94
The Panthers started out strong dropping 31 points against the Owls leading the first quarter 31-25. MUW battled in the second quarter, but BSC kept the momentum going and scored another 30 points to lead the first half 61-52. The Panthers came into the third quarter ready to compete outscoring MUW 27-19. BSC finished off strong in the fourth quarter by scoring 31 more points for a victory against the Owls.
Brooke Westhoelter dropped 26 points making this her third game in a row with 25 plus points. Westhoelter added nine rebounds, a block, and a steal to help the Panthers to a victory. Mckenna Buckner led the game with five steals and recorded 15 points. Anna Beth Giles and Cassady Quintana both contributed double digit points for BSC. Charlton Kelley and Mackenzie Raleigh dominated on the inside, both picking up 11 rebounds for the Panthers.
