Blazers Close Season at NCAA South Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAB cross country team placed 24th to close out the 2021 season at the NCAA South Regional on Friday morning. The Blazers ran the 6k race at the John Hunt Cross Country Course.
 
Junior Laura Thompson paced the Green and Gold with a season-best time of 22:20.97 to place 102nd overall. Agok Ayuen crossed the finish line next for UAB with a time of 22:49.91, placing 128th.
 
Rounding out the field for the Blazers were Britney Johnson (23:18.45, 160th), Lauren Robinson (23:28.13, 167th), Kathleen Schellman (192nd, 24:13.46) and Gracie Sears (25:04.46, 211th).
 
Ole Miss and Florida State were the top-two team finishes to earn them an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. Alabama’s Mercy Chelangat took home the individual title after crossing the line with a time of 19:34.74.
