JSU Volleyball Signs Two on National Signing Day

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State volleyball program announced the signing of two players on National Signing Day Wednesday.

Head coach Todd Garvey was very pleased with the duo he was able to sign. The Gamecocks will add back row depth and height up front to a veteran roster in 2022.

The Gamecocks 2021 class hails from New Washington, Ohio to Canton, Georgia with the addition of two high school standouts.

Morgan McClure, a native of Canton, Georgia, is in her fourth season at Creekview High School and the A5 volleyball club. McClure, a 6-3 middle blocker and outside hitter, has been named Second Team All-Region twice while tallying 755 kills during her high school career.

Coach Quote:
“Morgan comes from a great volleyball club at A5 in Atlanta. She is a versatile player who has played both middle blocker and as a right-side hitter. She has great size and puts up a big block. She still has a lot of upside and we feel like she is the type of player who is going to get better and better each year she is here. We are excited to see what she can do.”

Parker Phenicie, a native of New Washington, Ohio, is in her fourth season at Buckeye Central High School and has played two seasons each for the Black Swamp and Mintonette volleyball clubs. Phenicie, a 5-7 defensive specialist, has been named All-District three times while totaling 1,126 digs throughout her high school career.

Coach Quote:
“I love how quick Parker is defensively and her versatility of being able to play any back row spot. She also has a tremendous serve and is very consistent in serve receive. Parker has all the intangibles that we look for off the court such as being a hard worker, great leader and teammate, coachable, and driven.”

The Gamecocks will continue the 2021 season this weekend with a trip to Central Arkansas on Friday and Lipscomb on Sunday to conclude the regular season.
