TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama women’s basketball program inked a dynamic combo guard for its incoming class during the early signing period Wednesday, head coach Kristy Curry announced. Karly Weathers of Loretto, Tennessee, will join the Crimson Tide in the fall of 2022.

Weathers, a 5-11 guard from Loretto, Tennessee, has been a varsity starter throughout her high school career at Loretto High School, under the leadership of Ashley Rutledge, where she was named the 2021 Class A Miss Tennessee Basketball. She also plays on the Alabama Southern Starz – NIKE EYBL circuit under the guidance of Doug Bush.
Ranked No. 83 overall in the class of 2022, according to the Junior All-Star Report, Weathers was a three-time Tennessee Class A First Team selection in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Last season, the then-junior averaged 22.4 points per game, en route to helping her team win the 2021 Class A State Championship. As a sophomore, Weathers averaged 18.8 points a game, and as a freshman, she averaged 21.3 points per game.
Beyond the basketball court, Weathers is also a middle hitter on her high school volleyball team. She also earned three nods on the Tennessee Class A First Team in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for her performance on the volleyball court, while also helping her team to the 2020 Tennessee Sports Writers Association Class A Sate Runner Up.
