UAB Falls to Charlotte on Senior Night

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Charlotte on Senior Night at BBVA Field.
 
The Blazers concluded their season Saturday night by honoring their five seniors before the match. Seniors Seth Torman, Joseph Buete, Brandon Core, Mason Robicheaux and Brooks Stockley all played their final games in Green and Gold on Saturday.
 
Charlotte (10-5, 5-3) scored all three of its goals in the second half to earn the victory. Goals from Jonathan Nyandjo, Preston Popp and Delasi Batse powered the 49ers to the conference win.
 
The Blazers held the 49ers scoreless in the first half behind three saves from Torman. The senior tied a career high with 11 total saves in his final match, stopping eight shots in the second half. Torman made a save in the waning seconds of the first half to deny Brito of the game’s opening goal.
 
Blazers Cale Loughrey and Curtis DeLeon each fired shots in the first half. Loughrey’s attempt came off a UAB corner kick, directing his header just wide of the left post. DeLeon’s attempt came off a Blazers’ counterattack, blasting a shot low but right at the goalkeeper.
 
UAB finished the match with three shots, two of which were on target. The Blazers also recorded three corner kicks.
