Falocn footy concludes season with a 2-1 win over Auburn Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montevallo women’s soccer team took care of business 2-1 on the road against AUM, Thursday evening in Montgomery.  With the win the Falcons end the season with an 8-8-1 record and a 5-7-1 GSC record with AUM slipping to 6-10 and 4-9 in conference for the season.

The Falcons went out with a bang for the 2021 season over in state foe Auburn Montgomery.  Montevallo only needed 13 minutes to breach the Auburn Montgomery defense after Allye Darnell booted a low ball in the center of the net for a 1-0 lead.  The Falcons held off the Warhawks until midway through the second half when Marjin Kissen found Ariel Jones for a goal to tie the game with 28 minutes left in the match.

The teams fought on both ends to find or prevent the next goal.  Defense was strict in the match until Allye Darnell placed another ball in the AUM net from the assist of Heather Gomez, with less than five minutes left in the game.  Montevallo held off the Warhawks for the remainder of the match to secure the 2-1 victory.

The Falcons out shot AUM 21-9 with 12 on frame shots compared to four from the Warhawks.  Montevallo also held the edge in corner kicks 6-2 for the match.
