Win and In: Chargers Host UWA in Pivotal Regular Season Finale

HUNTSVILLE | As seems to so often be the case, The University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s soccer team will welcome rival West Alabama to Charger Park with so much on the line as the two teams are set to square off on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. UAH enters the game at 7-6-2 (4-5-1 Gulf South Conference).
Admission for Thursday’s contest will be free courtesy of Alabama Credit Union as has been the case all season long.

The contest against the Tigers comes with high stakes, and UAH can punch its ticket to the 2021 GSC Men’s Soccer Championship tournament with a victory. A tie could also clinch a spot for UAH, but there are some tiebreaking scenarios in which one point would prove to not be enough.
West Alabama has no scenario in which anything but a win sends its side into the postseason.
The game comes on the final night of the regular season, and the Chargers will honor Deivi Bucio, James Fee, Eddy Harvey-Latham, Rafa Moreno, Ethan Wilson, and Connor Young prior to the contest as the group of seniors plays its final contest at Charger Park.
The two teams have already met this season, playing a non-conference contest in Livingston that resulted in a 1-0 win for the Chargers thanks to Moreno’s goal in the 58th minute.
UWA visits the Tennessee Valley at 6-9-0 (4-6-0 GSC), and the squad is led by Reda Ikarrain who has five goals and two assists for 12 points.
The Tigers are 8-4-3 all-time against the Chargers, but UAH is unbeaten in its last five against UWA, going 3-0-2.
