Volleyball to Host AUM and West Florida

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama volleyball team will host conference foes Auburn Montgomery and West Florida this weekend inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium to close out home action for the 2021 season.

On Friday, the Tigers will take on the Warhawks, and Saturday, they will face the Argos during a senior night celebration. Both games will begin at 6 p.m. CT and air live on the UWA Athletics YouTube page with live stats on the UWA Athletics website.

UWA is 1-20 on the season and 1-11 in the Gulf South Conference. The Tigers single victory was against Christian Brothers, and West Alabama looks to snap the eight-game losing streak this weekend.  UWA is coming off a midweek loss (3-0) at Union on Tuesday.

Auburn – Montgomery is 16-11 overall and 7-5 in the GSC. Led by third-year head coach Flavia Siqueira, senior outside hitter Nyah Whittlesey, and junior right-side hitter Giada Pais-Marden, AUM sits at fifth place in the conference standings. Both Whittlesey and Pais-Marden lead the Warhawk offense to average 2.47 kills per set. AUM defeated the Tigers earlier in the season, 3-2, at home.

This season, West Florida is 28-1 and undefeated (13-0) in the league to take the No. 1 spot. Melissa Wolter is in her 18th season at the helm of the West Florida volleyball program. The Argos offense is led by junior outside hitter Madi Cooler, who averages 3.86 kills per set. UWF hosted West Alabama in early October, taking the match in three.
