Men’s Basketball to open 2021-22 with Wednesday Exhibition

JACKSONVILLE – As the calendar turns to November, Jacksonville State basketball is just around the corner with the Gamecock men hosting Georgia Southwestern in an exhibition matchup on Wednesday evening a 6 p.m.
Head coach Ray Harper enters his sixth season at the end of the Gamecock bench, where he’s tallied 98 career wins for the Red and White. One year removed from the chaos of the Covid-19 season, Jax State returns a double-digit number of players from the squad that finished 18-9 and advanced to the semifinals of JSU’s final Ohio Valley Conference tournament.
Seniors Darian Adams and Brandon Huffman and junior Jalen Finch are all back for 2021-22 after each averaged double figures scoring a season ago. Huffman, an All-OVC Newcomer in his first season with JSU also led the Gamecocks with 33 blocks and 6.5 rebounds a night. From JSU’s 2005 total points scored last year, only 79 were by Gamecocks not back with the program again this season.
Wednesday’s exhibition tips at 6 p.m. from Pete Mathews Coliseum. Admission is free for the preseason matchup. Regular season games start at $10 at the gate on game day, or $8 if you order online in advance. For season ticket packages, visit the JSU Ticket Office of call 256-782-8499.
Fans unable to make the game against the Hurricanes on Wednesday can follow the action through live stats at or listen to the Gamecock Sports Network with Mike Parris. There will not be a streaming broadcast available. The remaining 14 regular season home games will broadcast live on ESPN+, beginning with the November 13 contest against Alabama A&M.
