Spring Hill falls to Delta State, 4-0

CLEVELAND, Miss. (October 31, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women’s soccer team suffered a 4-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss to the Delta State University (DSU) Statesmen on Sunday afternoon at Delta Field.

Currently holding third place in the 2021 GSC standings, the Statesmen (8-6-2; 8-2-2 GSC) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Addison Mills found Mia Ramirez with a pass that led to a goal. Three minutes later, Ramirez gave her help to Madison Lafontaine who put the second DSU goal on the scoreboard.

Ramirez continued to frustrate the Badgers with her second goal off an assist from Carra Hymel in the 38th minute while Robyn Moody added an unassisted fourth goal in the 41st minute.

Badger starting keeper Hannah Linss (0-4) made three saves against nine shots and three corner kicks while Amanda Hilliard (7-5-1) of DSU faced one shot and one corner with no saves. Anna Brunner played in goal in the second half for SHC as did Kalah Hoard for DSU. Brunner made four saves against eight shots and three corners as Haord picked up a save versus four shots and _ one corner.

The Badgers (0-16; 0-12 GSC) will close out the 2021 season at home on Thursday afternoon with a GSC match versus the University of west Florida (UWF) Argonauts (10-2-2; 6-2-2 GSC) beginning at 3:30 p.m.
