Chargers Battle Hard in 1-0 Setback to No. 2 Lee

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women’s soccer team went toe-to-toe with the nation’s second-ranked team, but ultimately it was visiting Lee who secured a 1-0 victory at Charger Park on Sunday afternoon. UAH falls to 6-7-2 (4-6-1 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while the Flames remain perfect at 15-0-0 (12-0-0 GSC).
The lone goal of the game came in the 10th minute when Alexis Hall scored from Ellie Crisler.
The shot was one of 19 that the Flames would have on the afternoon, and 11 of those were on target as UAH keeper Adriana Wright turned in an impressive 10-save performance against the nationally-ranked side.
The 10 saves are the most by Wright this season, and it is the fifth time in her career that she has reached double figures in stops. The 10 saves also mark the most by an opposing keeper against Lee this year.
The Chargers would fire off six shots in the game, and five were on target. Brynn Colvin led the UAH offensive effort as she had four attempts with three on goal.
Lee earned eight corners to UAH’s four, and it was a clean game with just 11 fouls whistled in the contest.
UAH will now turn its attention to the 2021 season finale as the squad will welcome West Alabama on Thursday evening. Kick-off at Charger Park is slated for 5 p.m.
Admission for the contest will be free courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.
