UAH Welcomes Lee for Pivotal GSC Match Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s soccer team is set for a crucial Gulf South Conference contest, welcoming Lee for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Sunday at Charger Park.
UAH enters the game at 7-5-2 (4-4-1 GSC), while the Flames visit Huntsville at 9-4-1 (5-3-1 GSC).
In the conference standings, Lee sits on 16 points in a tie for fourth, while the Chargers are just three points behind in seventh with two more conference games remaining including Sunday’s match.
The Chargers are riding high into the contest, winners of three straight including two in a row in overtime after Connor Young scored his second-straight game-ending goal on Friday night at Shorter. The goal gives Young eight on the season which is tied for fourth in the league, while his fourth game-winner has him on top of the GSC in that statistical category.
Sunday’s guests snapped a three-game winless slide on Friday night when they defeated West Alabama 3-1 on the road, improving their away record to 5-2-0. Mattia Balzano leads Lee offensively with six goals, while Sam Keener has allowed just 12 scores in goal for the Flames to own a 0.84 goals against average to go along with a .769 save percentage.
When the teams last met in the Spring Championship Series, they played to a 0-0 draw, giving UAH a 3-1-2 all-time mark against the Flames in Huntsville in a series that heavily favors the home team as Lee holds a 4-1-0 mark against the Chargers up in Cleveland, Tennessee.
