UAB fell 1-0 to Coastal Carolina in a Conference USA matchup on Tuesday, having a late chance at an equalizer from sophomore Tyrell Price saved in the 82nd minute by CCU goalkeeper Leon Schmidt. The Chanticleers tallied the match’s only goal in the 61st minute, which was just minutes after Price fired the second half’s first two attempts in the 47th and 54th minute, respectively.
The Blazers applied pressure on the Chanticleers in the first half, firing a pair of shots in a six-second span in the 31st minute. Cale Loughrey recorded an original attempt before Blazer leading goal scorer Nathaniel St. Louis then blasted an effort off the rebound directly off the right post.
The Blazers finished the match with seven shots, including two attempts on target. Price paced UAB with four shots and two shots on frame. Senior goalkeeper Seth Torman made five stops for the Green and Gold in net to keep UAB within striking distance.
On the season, St. Louis paces the Blazers with five goals, 11 points, 24 shots and 16 shots on goal. Junior Teodor Thorvaldsen leads the Green and Gold with four assists.
Torman ranks first among UAB goalkeepers with 43 saves and nine matches started in net.

Old Dominion holds a 9-0-3 advantage over the Blazers in the series history, winning the first seven matches dating back to 1985. UAB, however, has earned a point against the Monarchs in three of the past five meetings, recording three ties dating back to 2016. A win on Sunday would mark the Blazers’ first win over ODU in program history.

Old Dominion (2-9-1, 0-5-1 C-USA) opened its season 2-2-1 before beginning its current seven-match losing streak. The Monarchs earned victories in two of their first three matches in September with one-goal triumphs over Loyola and George Mason.

Sophomore goalkeeper Djibril Doumbia has started all 12 of ODU’s matches in net. Doumbia and his back line have posted one clean sheet during the 2021 season.
Head coach Alan Dawson entered his 25th season in charge of the Old Dominion men’s soccer program in August.
