LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Lee University men’s soccer team defeated West Alabama 3-1 Friday evening at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers dropped to 5-9 overall and is now 3-6 in GSC play. The Flames improved to 9-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half where neither team placed any shots on target, the Flames scored at the 48:56 mark in the second half to take a 1-0 lead over the Tigers.
In the 66th minute of the match, Lee University added another goal to improve the lead to 2-0. The Flames rounded out their scoring in the 86th minute to give Lee a 3-0 advantage over the UWA.
Harry Deveney recorded one save as he faced 14 shots in his 90 minutes of action.
West Alabama out shot Lee University, 18-14, and held the edge on the shots on goal 7-4.
There was one yellow card called and 29 fouls called in the physical contest. The Flames were called for 17, while the Tigers were called for 12.
The Tigers host Shorter University Sunday, Oct. 31 for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
