Blazers Place Eighth at Conference USA Cross Country Championships

CONCORD, N.C – The UAB cross country team placed eighth at the Conference USA Championships at Frank Liske Park on Saturday morning.
 
Senior Agok Ayuen paced the Blazers with a 31st place finish with a personal-best time of 22:26.9. C-USA All-Academic Team honoree Laura Thompson followed closely behind with a time of 22:27.1 to place 32nd.
 
Rounding out the top seven for the Blazers were Britney Johnson (23:15.1, 52nd), Kathleen Schellman (23:19.7, 54th), Lauren Robinson (23:49.0, 65th), Olivia McAnulty (24:05.9, 70th) and Gracie Sears (24:46.3, 82nd).
 
Rice’s Grace Forbes won the individual title, her second consecutive, with a time of 20:24.0. Middle Tennessee took home the team title with 39 points.
 
Up next, UAB awaits selections to the NCAA South Regional held in Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
