Volleyball to Host Lee and Shorter in Weekend Action

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Volleyball team will host back-to-back conference matches this weekend as Lee University and Shorter University travel to Livingston. The Tigers will host the Flames Friday at 6 p.m. CT inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium and the Hawks Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

Both matches will be streamed live on the UWA Athletics YouTube page and live stats will be available on uwaathletics.com.

West Alabama (1-17, 1-8) is coming off a 0-3 showing at the GSC/SSC Crossover in Winter Haven, Fla., last weekend. The Tigers did their best to compete with several starters out but could not pick up a match during the two-day event. UWA suffered losses versus Saint Leo University, Flagler College, and Rollins College.

Against Lee, the Tigers are 5-6 and look to even the record Friday evening. The last time the two teams met, UWA defeated the Flames 3-1 during its 2019 Senior Day.

Lee (5-15, 3-6) also participated in the GSC/SSC Crossover last weekend. The Flames did not fare any better than the Tigers with losses against Flagler (3-0), Saint Leo (3-1), and Florida Tech University (3-1).

Shorter (14-10, 7-2) ranks third in the Gulf South Conference and looks to climb the ranks with a victory against West Alabama. The Hawks enter this weekend after a devastating 2-3 loss at Augusta University on Wednesday. Before coming to Livingston on Saturday, Shorter will stop at Mississippi College for a Friday night competition.
