Volleyball takes three SIAC weekly awards

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 26, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team won three of the four weekly volleyball awards for October 18-24 as handed out by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Kassandra Fairly, a senior middle hitter from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., earned the Offensive Player of the Week honor with 39 kills in eight sets of two matches along with four block assists, three digs, an ace, and an assist.

Emily Weinzapfel, a freshman outside hitter from Evansville, Ind., was the Defensive Player of the Week with 36 digs, three block assists, eight kills, and three aces.

Jessica Fairly, a freshman from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., passed out 28 assists in the Badgers 3-1 victory over non-conference rival the William Carey University Crusaders on Tuesday. Against Albany State on Friday, Fairly handed out 33 assists. On the weekend, the freshman setter collected 61 total assists in eight matches adding 17 digs and three aces.

The Badgers (24-5) will host historic Jesuit rival the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack (16-7) at 6 p.m. tonight in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center as SHC head coach Peggy Martin goes for her 1,400th career victory.
