FOOTBALL WEEKEND PREVIEW VS. RHODES

It is Homecoming on the Hilltop and Birmingham-Southern football returns home as they host Rhodes College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Krulak Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 23.

General Krulak Stadium will be at 100% capacity come Saturday night, but there are policies and procedures fans, and spectators need to follow.
 
While seated in the stands, fans must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. If fans, choose to walk around the confines of the stadium you must wear a mask unless you are able to keep a 10-foot distance between other individuals and families.

A look at the BSC Panthers
The Panthers come into this game climbed up the national rankings to slide in at No. 22 in D3football.com’s top 25 list. The Panthers also jumped into the American Football Coaches Association top 25 and are currently ranked No. 23 in that poll. BSC is currently 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
 
The Panthers currently rank sixth in the country in rushing yards with 1,887 yards on the season. Robert Shufford leads the team and conference with 849 rushing yards. Behind him is a dynamic back in Tavion Flemming who has four total touchdowns on the year. 
 
Trey Patterson comes off a game where he recorded a career high in passing yards with 239, and has thrown a touchdown pass in all but one game this year. Branden Rew has produced over 85 receiving yards in the past three games and has also added on three touchdowns. 
 
The Panther defense is led by two linebackers, Connor West and Court Coley, the two have 30+ tackles and have combined for 11.5 tackles for loss. The defense has recorded five interceptions and eight forced fumbled over their six games. 
 
A look at the Rhodes Lynx
Rhodes enters the contest with an overall record of 3-3 and a conference record of 2-1. Last week the Lynx scratched out a 16-13 double overtime win against Hendrix. 
 
The Lynx offense is led by junior quarterback, Luke Macias. Macias has thrown for 1,277 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions on the season. He has also rushed for 169 yards on 36 carries. Aaron Cooper and Umikoa Kealoha have been the beneficiaries of the passing attack as they have combined for 55 catches, 728 yards, and five touchdowns. 

The Rhodes defense has eight players all with 25 or more tackles this season. The leaders are defensive lineman Jordan McCoy and outside linebacker Kobe Bins. The Lynx are allowing 23.67 points per game.

> Shufford currently ranks second all-time on the career rushing yards list.

The Panthers will travel to Mount Berry, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 30 to take on Berry College. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
