UAH Set for First Home GSC Matches in 2021

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team returns to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall this weekend for its first Gulf South Conference home matches of 2021 as the Chargers host Montevallo on Friday at 6 p.m. and Lee on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Admission for both games — and every regular season home game — is free courtesy of Alabama Credit Union. Face coverings are required at all times while inside Spragins Hall per University policy.

The Chargers enter the weekend with an 8-4 overall record and a 2-0 GSC record in head coach Jon Moseley‘s first fall season at the helm of the program, as the squad is riding a five-match win streak after a three-set win on Saturday at Mississippi College.
Junior Molly Presnell has been a leader on both ends for the Chargers this season with a team-high 101 kills to go along with 124 digs which rate second on the roster. Sophomore Gracie McGee has also buoyed the UAH attack with 90 kills, ranking second to Presnell’s 101.
Defensively, Moseley’s squad ranks in the top three in the GSC in both total blocks per set (2.38) and digs per set (16.79) as Zharia Hubbard leads the team with 45 total blocks and 1.18 per set and Shayla Libby paces the roster with 176 digs and 4.19 per set.
Montevallo comes into the conference matchup on Friday with an 8-6 overall mark and a 2-0 record in conference play after a 3-1 win at West Alabama on Saturday. The Falcons are led offensively by Evelina Teran’s 177 kills, while Casey Hendrixson’s 216 digs pace UM defensively.
Lee enters the weekend with a 4-6 overall record and a 2-0 mark in league matches after opening GSC play last weekend with wins over Union and Christian Brothers. The Flames offense is paced by Allie Whittinghill with 115 kills, with Kamryn Halpin leading the defense 117.
UAH holds an all-time record of 24-19 against Montevallo and 25-19 against Lee.
