Three Chargers Qualify for 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championshps

ALLENDALE, Mich. | The field for the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships has been set, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville will be represented by Serenity Andrus, Zach Hancock and Wilson McClain at outdoor nationals.

The 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are slated for May 27-29 on the campus of Grand Valley State.
 
Andrus, Hancock and McClain were each selected to compete earlier this year at indoor nationals, as all three earned All-American at the event.
 
A native of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, Andrus has qualified to compete in the 400 meter as she enters with a season-fastest time of 55.03. She is currently ranked 13th nationally with her seeded time of 55.03, which is tied for the program record.

Andrus will compete in the 400 meter on Saturday, May 29, at 5:05 p.m.
 
Hancock – a native of Madison, Alabama – will compete in both the shot put and discus at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships with seeded marks 18.56 meters in the shot put and 57.41 meters in the discus. He enters Nationals ranked in the top five nationally in both the shot put and discus.

Hanocock will compete in the discus on Friday at 1:05 p.m., and then the shot put on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
A redshirt freshman, McClain qualified to compete in 110-meter hurdles with a seeded time of 13.83, which is a program record. He is currently third nationally in the event.

McClain will compete in 110 meter hurdles on Saturday at 12:40 p.m.
