Falcons Move into Top 25; Up to #4 in Region

MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo men’s soccer team moved into the United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 this week at #24. The Falcons also moved up one spot in the South Region poll to #4. The last time the Falcons were ranked in the Top 25 this late in the season was in 2011.

The Falcons are having a great season, rolling with an 8-2-1 record and currently tied for second place in the Gulf South Conference at 4-2.
“This is an honor. I’m happy for the guys to see us on the list with these elite teams.,”  said UM head men’s coach Bruce Dietterle. Despite the ranking, Dietterle remains cautious and focused. “This helps with our confidence but not our real goals,” he explained.  “I want to be on this list at the end of the season. Settling now, is not an option.”

The Falcons are coming off of a big win over West Florida on Sunday. This week, they will travel to Huntsville to take on UAH in another crucial GSC match. Then on Sunday, the Falcons return home to host West Alabama on Senior Day! Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Varsity Field.
