Falcons fall 4-1 to AUM in opening round of GSC championship

OXFORD, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team took a hard fought loss to top seeded AUM, 4-1, Thursday at Choccolocco Park.

The Falcons put together hits in the first inning but not runs with the Warhawks starting the game in similar fashion.  Montevallo opened scoring off the bat of Hannah Carey who went yard in the top of the second.  AUM answered in the next half inning with a home run of their own to notch the score at one run a piece.

The Falcons received a huge spark from a Sierra Easterwood triple at the top of the fourth but could not capitalize on the AB.  AUM took a lead in the bottom of the inning after an Allie Miller double brought in three runs for the Warhawks making the score 4-1.

UM kept the bats hot but could not put in runs to overcome the AUM lead, ending the game with a 4-1 loss.

The Falcons were led offensively by Brooke Ingram who had two hits with Carey, Lauren Higginbotham, and Sierra Easterwood adding a hit a piece.

Mychael McMillan was in the circle for the Falcons, completing six innings of service with six hits, four runs, four walks, a double, and five strikeouts.
