Chargers Fall 3-0 to Visiting AUM on Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Auburn Montgomery on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH falls to 4-5-2 (2-4-1 Gulf South Conference), while AUM improves to 8-3-1 (6-1-1 GSC).

The first 45 minutes saw the teams combine for just three shots, but AUM made its one attempt of the half count as Jamos Hauk scored in the 42nd to put the Warhawks up 1-0.

The guests then doubled their lead when Andrew Elkins scored in the 64th, and Frank Kouentchi produced the 3-0 final when he tallied in the 89th.

Shot attempts in the game were even at 7-7, but AUM had five on target compared to two for the Chargers.

UAH did control play through much of the first half, as evidenced by the 4-1 margin in corners in the period, and the hosts would end the contest with a 6-4 advantage in corners earned.

Connor Young led UAH with five shots, and Ethan Haworth recorded two saves in goal for the Chargers.

UAH will now step out of conference play to welcome an old GSC foe in Lincoln Memorial for a special matinee on Wednesday at Charger Park. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.
