FLORENCE, Ala. — The University of North Alabama softball team will be honoring the memory of slain Sheffield police officer Sgt. Nick Risner on Friday at 5:00 p.m., at the Hilda B. Anderson Softball Complex.
Sgt. Risner’s daughter Aili Risner will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of UNA’s game against Northeast Mississippi Community College. Sheffield police officer, Lieutenant Max Dotson, who was also injured in the October 1 shooting, will be on hand to catch the pitch from Risner.
Other members of the Risner family will be attendance, along with Whiske, Sgt. Risner’s now retired K-9 partner, and other area law enforcement officers and first responders.
Admission to the game is free, but donations will be accepted to support the Risner family.
