Men’s Soccer Heads to Birmingham for GSC Matchup Against West Florida

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men’s soccer team heads to Birmingham to compete against West Florida in a Gulf South Conference matchup Thursday, Oct. 21 at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex. Kickoff against the Argonauts is set for 3 p.m. 

The original match was scheduled for September 19 at UWF but was postponed due to rainy weather and unsafe pitch conditions. 

UWA heads into the match with a  5-7 overall record and is 3-4 in GSC play. UWF is 6-2-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference. 

Vince Stans leads the Tigers’ offensive with four goals for eight points. The Sittard, Netherlands native, has taken 21 shots, with 11 being on target. The Tigers’ goalie is Harry Deveney (2-4-0). He has allowed 10 goals and has recorded 18 saves in the six matches played. 

Kainan Dos Santos leads the Argonauts’ offense with eight goals for 16 points. He has taken 26 shots, with 12 being on target. Jihad Gomes (4-1-1-) is UWF’s goalkeeper. He has allowed eight goals and recorded 22 saves in the seven matches played.
