Williams Named SoCon Special Teams Player Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior place-kicker Zach Williams was named the Southern Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week when the league released its weekly football awards Monday afternoon.
Williams made a 38-yard field goal with 1:38 left in the game to lift the Bulldogs to a 27-24 win at Wofford last Saturday. In the second quarter Williams made a 30-yard field goal to give Samford a 17-7 advantage. He was also three-for-three on extra points, giving him nine points for the game.  
For the season, Williams has made seven-of-nine field goal attempts. He has also been good on all 29 of is extra-point attempts. He is second in the SoCon in PATs made and third in scoring by kick, averaging 8.3 points per game.
Williams and the Bulldogs will return home to play host to the Chattanooga Mocs Saturday at 12 p.m. at Bobby Bowden Field at Seibert Stadium. To purchase tickets, click here: TICKETS.
