LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men’s and women’s cross country teams have released their schedule for the 2021 fall season.
The Tigers will have six guaranteed meets this year. UWA will open their season Friday, Sept. 3 at the VSU Border Clash hosted by Valdosta State at Freedom Park, guaranteeing them Gulf South Conference competition.
On Friday, Sept. 10, the Tigers travel to Florence, Alabama, to compete in the North Alabama Invitational at McFarland Park. The following Friday, Sept. 17, UWA heads to Huntsville, Alabama, to compete in the North Alabama Showcase.
The three next meets will all take place on a Saturday. Saturday, Oct. 2 is the 33rd Annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Each year over 80 college teams compete for unique Chile Pepper themed awards. This meet is held at the University of Arkansas’ off road course.
UWA closes out their regular season at the Watson Invitational Saturday, Oct. 9 in Clinton, Mississippi. The race will be held on Choctaw Trails on the campus of Mississippi College.
The Tigers have a weekend off before the GSC Championship meet on Saturday, Oct. 23. The GSC Championship will be held at Mississippi College on Choctaw Trails.
During the GSC Championship meet, the Tigers will have the opportunity to qualify as a team or individually for the South Regional Championship held Saturday, Nov. 6 in Saint Leo, Florida.
Two weeks after the South Regional Championship, Nov. 20, will be the NCAA National Championship meet, also held in Saint Leo, Florida. Athletes can only qualify for nationals through the South Regional Championship meet.
