Troy Cross Country Competes in FSU XC Invite / Pre Nationals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Troy men’s and women’s cross country squads recorded a 27th and 26th, respectively, at the FSU XC Invite/ Pre Nationals at Apalachee Regional Park.
On the men’s side, Mason Bennett led the way with a 170th-place finish in 27:05.5, an 8k personal best. Blake Vaughn and James Brake rounded out Troy’s top-three finishers with times of 27:10.1 and 27:16.9. Brake’s time also marked an 8k personal best.
The men recorded 729 points en route to a 27th-place finish in a field that featured the likes of many nationally recognized programs, including Florida State, Kansas, Florida and Northern Arizona.
Cadi Rowe paced the women with a 151st-place finish in 23:34.9. Tanner Guest and Teanna Cason rounded at the Trojans’ top-three finishes placing 172nd and 199th, respectively.
The women tallied 707 points and a 26th-place finish in a field that featured Tennessee, Texas, Florida State and many other nationally-ranked opponents.
Both squads will take a week off in preparation for the 2021 Sun Belt Championships. The Trojans will race for the league title on Friday, Oct. 29, in Mobile, Ala.
