Troy Soccer Travels to South Alabama Before Alumni Weekend

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Soccer team will travel to South Alabama Friday before returning home to kickoff Alumni Weekend Sunday against Coastal Carolina.
 
Kickoff from The Cage Friday is set for 4 p.m. before Sunday’s 12 p.m. start at the Troy Soccer Complex.

  • Troy is 8-11-1 all time against South Alabama.  The Trojans have lost back-to-back meetings, but the last four matchups have been split evenly.
  • Troy is 1-5 all time against Coastal Carolina; however, the Trojans lone win over the Chanticleers came last season. 
  • Ella Owen and Erin Bloomfield are the only Trojans to record multiple goals this season. Nia Wilson and Taytum Terrell account for the other two of Troy’s 11 goals this season.
  • The Trojans will play two of their next three contest at home. After Friday’s matchup with South Alabam,a the Trojans will return home for their final two contest of the season.
  • Sunday’s contest against Coastal Carolina will be a part of Alumni Weekend, where the Trojans will honor former players that suited up in the cardinal and white.
  • Freshman Gabrielle Chartier is the only Trojan to have started all 13 matches this season.
  • After missing five games, Melissa Kuya-Strobel has returned to the pitch for the Trojans, playing significant minutes in Troy’s last six matches. The sophomore has recorded three shots and 349 minutes over that six-match span.
  • Erin Bloomfield continues to lead the Trojan attack with seven goals this season. The freshman has scored over half of Troy’s goals this season.
  • The Trojans have played 17 freshmen throughout the course of the season. Of those 17, 10 of them have seen playing time in at least 10 matches this season.
  • The Trojans have put up a hard-fought battle in every match this season. All but one match has been decided by two or fewer goals. The Trojans downed Alabama AM 3-0.
