Sanchez named SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State junior goalkeeper Sheila Sanchez (Castellon, Spain) was rewarded for her play over the weekend by being named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Sanchez recorded 11 saves in a pair of road conference wins this past week, allowing just a pair of goals in wins over Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley State. She recorded five saves against Alcorn State and six more against Mississippi Valley State in an overtime contest. For the season, she has recorded 68 total saves.

The two wins moved Alabama State’s unbeaten streak in conference play to nine matches dating back to the spring season.
