Preview: Troy Soccer Returns Home for App State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Soccer team returns home to square off against Appalachian State Thursday night at the Troy Soccer Complex.
 
The match will serve as the Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Troy’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations in support of breast cancer research. All fans are encouraged to join the team wearing pink.
 
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Notable

  • Troy is 3-4-1all time against App State.  The Trojans have lost back-to-back meetings, and two of the last four matchups have gone into overtime. 
  • Ella Owen and Erin Bloomfield are the only Trojans to record multiple goals this season. Nia Wilson and Taytum Terrell account for the other two of Troy’s 10 goals this season.
  • The Trojans will play three of their next four contest at home. After tonight’s matchup with App State, the Trojans will hit the road against South Alabama but return home for the final weekend of the season.
  • Freshman Gabrielle Chartier is the only Trojan to have started all 12 matches this season.
  • After missing five games, Melissa Kuya-Strobel has returned to the pitch for the Trojans, playing significant minutes in Troy’s last five matches. The sophomore has recorded three shots and 321 minutes over that five-match span.
  • Erin Bloomfield continues to lead the Trojan attack with six goals this season. The freshman has scored half of Troy’s goals this season.
  • The Trojans have played 17 freshmen throughout the course of the season. Of those 17, 10 of them have seen playing time in at least 10 matches this season.
  • The Trojans have put up a hard-fought battle in every match this season. All but one match has been decided by two or fewer goals. The Trojans downed Alabama AM 3-0.
  • Kate Eubanks missed the last game against FAU after receiving a pair of yellow cards against Jackson State, snapping a 46-games started streak. Eubanks has since returned back to the lineup as the starting centerback.
