Marissa Arias honored by Top Drawer Soccer

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn forward Marissa Arias has been named Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention Tuesday.
It marks the first time of her career Arias has earned the recognition. It is also the seventh time through as many weeks this season an Auburn player has been recognized.
The San Antonio, Texas, native played a role in Auburn’s comeback effort at South Carolina last week, scoring the team’s second goal to cut the deficit to one in the late stages of the contest. Arias controlled a failed clearance at the top of the box and hit a screaming one-timer with the left foot through the Gamecocks’ defense and into the far side netting.
Arias ranks second on the team in goals (five) and points (12), and all but one of her points have come in the last six contests. She is tied for second in the Southeastern Conference in goals (three) and tied for sixth in points (six) during league play.
Arias and the No. 22 Tigers (8-3-0, 2-2-0 SEC) remain on the road to take on Mississippi State (3-4-3, 1-2-1 SEC) Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT in Starkville, Mississippi.
