JAGUAR SOCCER EARNS DRAW AT GEORGIA STATE

ATLANTA – The University of South Alabama women’s soccer team earned a 2-2 draw with Georgia State Friday night at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Freshman goalkeeper Jaidy Gutierrez Campos faced a career-high 23 shots while making a career-high 10 saves for South Alabama (8-3-2, 4-1-2 SBC). Junior midfielder Gracie Wilson scored a brace in the first half before Georgia State (8-3-4, 3-1-3 SBC) answered in the second half with two goals from Jimena Cabrero and Callee Maughon. Neither team found the back of the net in overtime, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

GAME FACTS
– Wilson scored the opening goal of the match after getting an assist from Morgan Cross at 3:10, putting the Jags in front, 1-0, early in the first half. 
– Wilson scored a brace off an assist from Kailey Littleford in the 43rd minute, giving South Alabama a 2-0 lead before halftime. 
– GSU’s Cabrero received assists from Lexie Knox and Maughon to answer and put their team on the board, 2-1, in the 71st minute.
– Maughon tacked on another goal for the Panthers at 77:19 to tie the game, 2-2, late in the second half. 

NOTES
– USA remains unbeaten through six games.
– This was the first meeting between the schools at the GSU Soccer Complex. 
– Gutierrez Campos faced a career-high 23 shots while making a career-high 10 saves during the match. 
– Wilson leads South Alabama in goals (10) and points (25). 
– Cross leads the Jaguars in assists with six on the season. 
– This was the first match since Sept. 2. that the Jags allowed more than 10 shots from their opponent.

UP NEXT
– The Jaguars will travel to Monroe, La. on Sunday for their final road match of the season, to take on ULM in conference play at 1 p.m.
