Samford Softball Announces Fall Dates

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford softball team returns to the diamond for the month of October with the Bulldogs hosting Marion and Wallace Hanceville on the 10th and 13th, respectively, while closing out fall ball on the 16th at Jacksonville State.
Samford will first take on the Tigers of Marion Military Institute in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10th at the Samford Softball Field. Marion is a member of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association and competes in the ACCC (Alabama Community College Conference). The Tigers posted an overall record 35-17 during their 2020-21 season, going 16-12 in conference play while collecting 372 runs and 35 runs in 52 games.
The Bulldogs will then turn their attention to Wallace State Community College for a single game at home on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. The Lions are also a member of the ACCC, winning their 13th conference title in program history this past season after finishing with an overall record of 55-6, 26-2 (ACCC). Wallace State tallied 553 runs and 120 home runs in its 61 games in the spring of 2021.
Samford wraps up its fall action at Jacksonville State on Oct. 16th where the Bulldogs will compete in the annual Tera Ross Memorial Tournament at University Field. The Bulldogs competed against the Gamecocks three times last season, capturing back-to-back wins in a Sunday doubleheader at the Samford Softball Field, while defeating JSU once again down in Jacksonville, Alabama by a final score of 7-6 later on in the season.
The Bulldogs are using this time to gear up for their upcoming spring season as the Kimball Cassady era of Samford softball begins. Fans can keep a lookout for the release of the spring schedule in the coming months!
