McAslan Named SoCon Women’s Soccer Defensive Player Of The Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior goalkeeper Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Month for women’s soccer when the league released its monthly awards for September Friday afternoon.
McAslan led Samford to a 4-1-1 record, including four shutouts in the month of September. She saved 18 shots, while allowing just three goals in the month. She led the Bulldogs to wins over Alabama (1-0), Jacksonville State (4-0), VMI (3-0) and UNCG (3-0).
For the season, McAslan has posted a 0.85 goals against average. Her four shutouts are tied for third in the SoCon.
The Samford soccer team will be on the road this weekend. The team will play at Mercer Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) and at The Citadel Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).
