BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team fell to conference member, Hendrix College by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Panthers outshot the Warriors 13-10 and 8-5 on shots on goal.
The Warriors came out strong with their first shot within the first two minutes of the game. They outshot the Panthers in the first half 6-4. The Warriors had two more shots without producing any goals. BSC also had an attempt on a goal but could not capitalize before Hendrix took the first goal in the 22nd minute. Shortly after, Hendrix was able to produce another goal in the 28th minute of play. The Panthers got an opportunity for a goal after a yellow card was given to Hendrix goalkeeper Mackenzie Smith. The shot came from Abby Walker that was just out over the top of the goal. The first half ended with Hendrix leading 2-0.
Although Birmingham-Southern outshot the Warriors 9-4 in the second half, Hendrix had two shots within the first minute of the half. The Panthers fought hard with some aggression with 11 fouls in the second half versus their 2 in the first. Birmingham-Southern’s 9 shots were unable to produce a goal and Hendrix took the game 2-0.
The Panthers will travel to Columbus, Miss. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 to take on Mississippi University for Women at 6 p.m.
