Women’s Basketball Secures Road Win Against Rust

Holly Springs, MS – The Talladega Women’s Basketball team was back on the road Monday night. The Lady Tornadoes would tip-off for the road contest against the Rust College Bearcats

The Bearcats got the night started finding a strong tempo and the first quarter would end with the Bearcats leading 25-14.

The second quarter saw a closer played affair. The Bearcats put up another 19 points in the second quarter, but Talladega closed the gap, collecting 18 points to exit the first half with a 12-point deficit 44-32.

The second half saw a little more tempo and change of pace with the Lady Tornadoes having a strong third quarter cutting their deficit to four going into the final frame.

The game would stay tight for the entire fourth quarter. With six seconds left down one point, Brijanee Moore would make a strong pass to Tyeisha Juhan on an out of bounds play for a lay-up putting TC up by one. This play would secure the Lady Tornadoes win by a score of 75-74.

In the win that put TC in first place alone in the GCAC standings, three Lady Tornadoes hit double-digits in points. Juhan led the Lady Tornadoes with 24 points followed by Moore with 16 points and 12 rebounds giving her a double-double, and Anna Radenkova added 13 points.

The Lady Tornadoes are now at home for the next four games before closing out the regular season on the road. Talladega will host Rust College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
