Stillman Swept at Faulkner – Stillman College

GAME 1 – Faulkner 12, Stillman 3

 

Sanders Napoles drove in the first run of the game in the top of the second in Game 1 to give Stillman a 1-0 lead. 

 

Faulkner took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, then added three, four and three in the next three innings to lead, 12-1. 

 

 

Vowell, Sanders and Colt Dozier each had one hit to lead Stillman. 

 

Jonathan Villa was 3-for-3 for Faulkner and Tommy Reyes-Cruz was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Tyler Paulsen and John Michael Matthews each had two hits. 

 

Dozier took the loss on the mound, while J.C. Toro tossed a complete game for Faulkner with seven strikeouts. 

  

GAME 2 – Faulkner 28, Stillman 6

 

Once again, Stillman struck first as Vowell, Dozier and Russell Castleberry delivered two-out singles. Castleberry’s drove in Vowell to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first. 

 

A Shawn Ross sac fly for Faulkner in the bottom of the first tied the game, 1-1.

 

Faulkner scored 11 in the second inning, six in the third, two in the fourth, seven in the fifth and one in the sixth to build a 28-1 lead. 

 

Stillman scored five runs  in the top of the seventh. Mackenzie Cottingham led off the inning, followed by a James Dent walk to set up a two-run double by Dozier. Dozier scored on a wild pitch. Two more runs later scored on an error.

 

Cottingham and Dozier each had two hits in the game. Vowell and Castleberry each had one. 

 

Four Faulkner Eagles had three hits: Alex Arauz, Isaac Phillips, Mathews and Justin Lara. Arauz had seven RBI and four runs scored. Lara drove in five, while Mathews and Phillips each had three RBI.

 

NEXT: Stillman (3-21, 1-11 SSAC) is scheduled to travel to Rust College on Tuesday, Arpil 13 for a noon DH.
