Stillman Softball Loses Two to BPC

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman College saw dropped a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader to Brewton-Parker College on Thursday, losing 13-8 and 9-1. 

   

GAME 1 – Brewton-Parker 13, Stillman 8

 

Stillman built an 8-1 lead and stranded the game-ending run on third in the fifth inning. However, Brewton-Parker scored nine in the top of the sixth to take the lead to steal the win. 

 

 

Candace Hampton gave Stillman a 1-0 lead, scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning. Starting pitcher Katie Clifton hit a home run to left in the second inning. to make it a 2-0 game. The Tigers added four runs in the bottom of the fourth after Karlee Kincaid and Presley Graham led off the inning with base hits. Two runs scored on a Roland sac fly and a Hampton single before Reynolds singled in two but was thrown out at second trying to turn the hit into a double.

 

Clifton did not allow a hit through four innings pitched until Chloe Stickland hit a solo home run to left to start the fifth inning. Clifton pitched out of it, allowing only one other hit. In the bottom of the fifth, Stillman scored two more on a two-out triple by Roland to pull within one run of ending the game. Six of the runs were charged to Clifton.

 

Brewton-Parker strung together nine runs off six hits in the top of the sixth, including a two-run home run by Morgan Parris. The Barons added three more in the seventh of reliever Elisabeth Boso

 

Clifton ended her day with seven runs off six hits, four walks and three strikeouts through 5.1 innings. 

 

BryAnn Pound led BPC, hitting 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Mackenze Tripp, Parris and Josalin Whitten each had two hits. 

 

GAME 2 – Brewton-Parker 9, Stillman 1

 

Trailing 9-0, Stillman pushed across a single run in the bottom of the fourth. Hampton beat out a bunt single and scored on a Brooklyn Pennington RBI. 

 

Hampton, Reynolds and Cynthia White had Stillman’s only hits.

NEXT: Stillman (10-28, 0-16) hosts Middle Georgia for its final home games of the season Friday, April 16 at 3 p.m.
