Stillman Drops Two at Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Stillman College closed the regular season Friday falling to Brewton-Parker College 1-0 and 14-4 in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader. 

  

In Game 1, Brewton-Parker took a 1-0 lead in the first and was unable to score again. 

 

Jared Hines, who hit 2-for-3, had both of Stillman’s hits in the first game. 

 

Colt Dozier pitched the complete game for Stillman, allowing one run on four hits and four walks. He struck out two. 

 

Game 2 began with a seven-run first inning for the Barons. Stillman scored in the top of the second after Russell Castleberry delivered a one-out single. His courtesy runner, Mackenzie Cottingham, later scored on an error. BPC claimed two runs in the fourth to lead 9-1. Both teams scored three in the sixth and the Barons added one in each the seventh and eight innings. 

 

 

DJ Sledge was charged with the loss. He allowed five runs on two hits and three walks. Tre’n Dorsett, Alex Murray, Samuel Mounce and Elijah Hammond all saw time on the mound. 

 

Stillman (3-23, 1-13 SSAC) will enter the SSAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed and will meet No. 1 Loyola University (La.) on May 5 at 10 a.m.
