Stillman Drops Pair to No. 13 Mobile

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman College softball dropped a pair of games to No. 13 University of Mobile on Tuesday in Southern States Athletic Conference action, falling 5-1 and 6-1.


Mobile scored all five of its runs in the first four innings of Game 1. Allison Vincent beat out a bunt single with one out to become the Rams’ first base runner and later scored on an error. Vincent drove in the eventual winning run in the second inning and Mobile extended its lead, 3-0, with a RBI double by Brianna Crim. Vincent and Elia Infante each drove in a run in the fifth. 


After Stillman held Mobile scoreless in the top of the fifth inning, Presley Graham broke up Emily Butts’ no-hit bid with a two-out, bloop single to shallow right field in the bottom of the fifth. 


Candace Hampton collected a second Tiger hit to lead off the sixth, and then Graham reached on an infield hit in the seventh to drive in pinch runner Ayslan Blake


Elisabeth Boso (2-6) pitched the complete game for Stillman, allowing nine hits and five runs, four earned. She allowed three walks and struck out two. 


Butts (5-6) collected the win in the circle, allowing three hits and an unearned run through seven innings. She walked two.




Hampton led Stillman with a 3-for-3 game at the plate and six put outs and an assist from left field. Hampton was 4-for-6 in the doubleheader. 


Mobile took a 2-0 lead through 4.5 innings with RBIs from Infante in the first and sac bunt RBI by Kaylee Pullin in the top of the fifth. 



After Sara Kate Nichols reached on a one-out walk in the bottom of the fifth, Hampton drove her in with a two-out single to right.


Infante drove in another run in the sixth, and Mobile extended its lead with a three-run top of the seventh. 



Katie Clifton (1-10) recorded the loss through 5.2 innings, allowing three runs, two earned. She struck out two. Pennington pitched the final 1 1/3, allowing three runs on four hits. Mobile had nine hits and eight walks. 


Brinkley Goff (7-3) recorded the one-run complete game, allowing six hits and one walk. She struck out seven. 


Stillman (8-20) will host Judson College (April 1) and MUW (April 2) for a pair of non-conference doubleheaders this week.
