Stillman Drops Final Road Game at WCU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Stillman College women’s basketball wrapped its final regular season road trip with a 62-49 loss at William Carey University on Feb. 6.

Olivia Mosley, Imani Wimbish-Gay and Zikira Williams each scored eight points to lead Stillman. Zaria Jenkins had seven points. Morgan Collins had five points to push her above 600 career points. Collins (602) has the fourth-most career points in Stillman’s NAIA era since 2016-17 behind Ki’Onna Likely (773), Jalicya Lowery (700) and Michaia Fluellen (621).

William Carey opened Saturday’s game the way it closed Friday night’s, out-scoring Stillman 16-5 in the first quarter. It was 32-14 at the half. Stillman out-scored the Crusaders 35-30 in the second half, including 19-12 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to complete a comeback.

Stillman was held to 33.3% shooting, while William Carey scored at a 54% clip. The Tigers hit 4-of-13 3-pointers and 13-of-18 free throws.

William Carey out-rebounded the Tigers roughly 2:1 with 41 boards to Stillman’s 19. Stillman did a better job protecting the basketball, turning it over only 12 times compared to WCU’s 23.

Lauren Rowley scored a game-high 18 points to lead William Carey, while McKinley Seal produced 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Stillman (2-10, 2-9 SSAC) is scheduled to return home Thursday, Feb. 11 for its final non-conference game against Rust College in Birthright Alumni Hall. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
