Rutgers Transfer Lobach Inks With Bulldogs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford University head men’s basketball coach Bucky McMillan announced the signing of Daniel Lobach, a 6-7 redshirt freshman forward, on Wednesday, June 16. Lobach comes to Samford from Rutgers University and is the eighth student-athlete to sign with the Bulldogs since the period began on April 15.
“Daniel Lobach will be a great addition to Samford University,” McMillan said. “He is a versatile student-athlete with the ability to score from anywhere on the court. He is also a young man with outstanding character and drive, who wants to be a part of what we’re building here at Samford.”
The Durham, N.C., native, spent the past two seasons at Rutgers University, where he received a medical redshirt following the 2019-20 season. He made his collegiate debut for the Scarlet Knights versus Sacred Heart on Nov. 25, 2020.
Prior to his time in New Brunswick, N.J., Lobach was a highly recruited forward for head coach Jeremy Ellis at Moravian Prep, a postgraduate program in Hickory (N.C.) that featured multiple nationally ranked prospects from across the country. While at Moravian, the squad captured the 2018 USA National Prep School Showcase.
Lobach also attended Cape Fear Christian Academy in Erwin (N.C.), where he played under head coach Dwight Miller before graduating from Arrows Academy in 2018.
The skilled wing, who boasts a 7-foot wingspan, earned an invitation to play in the North Carolina Top 80 Exposure Camp in Greensboro while competing for Big Shots Elite N.C. on the AAU circuit.
Lobach joins a star-studded class that also includes Wesley Cardet, Jr. (6-6, Guard), Konstantin Dotsenko (6-7, Forward), Ques Glover (6-0, Guard), Cooper Kaifes (6-4, Guard), Jermaine Marshall (6-7, Forward), Jaden Campbell (6-5, Guard) and Angel Smith (6-5, Guard).
