Lawrenceville, GA -Talladega College pitcher Julian Pitts tossed a three-hit complete-game victory as the No. 3-seeded Tornadoes defeated No. 2-seeded College of the Ozarks 10-1 on the opening day of the 2018 Association of Independent Institutions Baseball Championship Tournament Saturday at Georgia Gwinnett College’s Grizzly Baseball Complex

College of Ozarks (34-17) grabbed an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning. However, Pitts took over from there. He held the opposition to two hits over the final eight innings.

Talladega (25-22) answered with two runs in each of the first and second innings to grab a 4-1 lead. Then, the Tornadoes broke the game open in the fourth inning by tallying three runs.

Talladega collected 15 hits in the victory, led by Wilkin Louis‘ 3-for-4 performance, with four RBI. The top four hitters in the team’s lineup registered nine hits and scored six runs.

The Tornadoes advance to the winner’s bracket game Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. against the winner of Saturday night’s game between No. 1-seed Georgia Gwinnett College and No. 4-seed Edward Waters College.
